Co-parenting just got a little more complicated – and expensive – for Halle Berry.

A Los Angeles judge has decreed that the Oscar-winning actress must pay $16,000 (U.S.) per month in child support to her former Canadian boyfriend, model Gabriel Aubry, reports E! News.

At present, Berry and Aubry share joint custody of their six-year-old daughter, Nahla.

After four years together, Berry and Aubry officially split in 2010 and thereafter spent untold sums in legal fees battling each other in court.

In 2012, Aubry successfully blocked Berry's request to relocate to a new life in France with Nahla and then-fiance (now husband) Olivier Martinez.

Less than two weeks after the judge denied Berry's request, Aubry and Martinez were both treated for injuries following a "physical altercation" at Berry's residence.

Berry later amended her relocation plans to announce that she would move to France when Nahla turned 18.

However Berry and Aubry iron out the details of their new custody deal, it's pretty obvious that she's the breadwinner.

According to documents filed last week in Los Angeles Superior Court, Berry's reported gross income for nine months leading up to September 30, 2012, was close to $4.7 million (U.S.), reports E! News..

Compare that to Aubry's income, which totalled $192,921 (U.S.) for a 12-month period ending October 31, 2012.

In the court ruling, Berry was ordered to pay Aubry $16,000 (U.S.) each month, retroactive to January 1, 2013, which means she has to cough up an additional $115,000 (U.S.).

Berry was also ordered to pay $300,000 (U.S.) toward Aubry's legal fees and must assume the entire bill for Nahla's private-school tuition. Berry is also responsible for 50 per cent of Nahla's medical expenses that aren't covered by her mother's health insurance plan.

As for Berry's current relationship, she married Martinez in July, 2013, and the couple welcomed son Maceo last October.

And it's probably beneficial for all parties involved that Berry keeps working: Her next major role comes in the summer sci-fi thriller series Extant (CBS, July 9) in which she plays an astronaut who returns from a year in outer space with a big surprise: She's pregnant.

Think Gravity meets Baby Mama.
