All in the same week, Drake announces an upcoming album, releases a racy new song, and makes the shortlist for the Polaris Music Prize. Oh, and he's also hosting the ESPYs tomorrow.
Let's start with the album. As announced on Billboard today, Views from the 6 will be the Toronto rapper's fourth. Don't get excited yet though – the name has preceded any actual recording. What the "6" stands for is also unclear. The longer he waits to explain, though, the more theories will abound. The first, perhaps, might refer to a hoax that had fans believing (fake) billboards with "6"s on them were a shout-out from Drake to his beloved hometown.
Next, the song. PARTYNEXTDOOR premiered Recognize, featuring Drake, which includes some NSFW lyrics. Here's a toned down excerpt: "Bite on your shoulder I know that's your favourite … you a freak and your cover's blown." Hollywood Life won't be the first to suspect the lyrics are aimed at ex Rihanna.
The critics' nod: It was announced this morning that Drake has been shortlisted for the prestigious Polaris Music Prize for his album Nothing Was the Same. (Brad Wheeler notes Drake's inclusion on the shortlist is no surprise.) He was last nominated in 2012 for Take Care, but lost out to Feist.
Finally, the ESPYs: It's not enough for Drake to be nominated for awards. He must also host award shows, or he'd be underachieving. He said in a media conference call that he hoped the ESPN-held banquet, which takes place tomorrow, would "take over the Internet, for everything that we do to go viral and for people to enjoy days or weeks afterwards." Of course, Drake is the Raptors' global ambassador and has been seen court-side chumming with Kobe Bryant and LeBron James. "I think I'm going to be able to tap into some jokes that will be appreciated by my friends in the crowd and also the athletes that I don't know," he said during the call . Perhaps his more famous court-side appearance, however, has to do with a little untimely grooming.
Drake's famed hip-hop bash OVOFest returns for its fifth year to the Molson Canadian Amphitheatre in Toronto on Aug. 3 and 4 with headliners Outkast and Drake. Over 35,000 tickets sold out in record time, according to Billboard.
Sandra Bullock faced intruder at home
Chilling details have emerged about Sandra Bullock's stalking case. The search warrant showed that cops found seven guns at intruder Joshua Corbett's home, including assault rifles. The warrant states that Bullock heard a banging from inside her home at 1 a.m. When she went to lock her bedroom door she spotted a man – allegedly Corbett – in the hallway. After she calls the cops the man yells, "Sandy, I'm sorry. Please don't press charges." Corbett had on him magazine pics of Bullock and notes he'd written , including one that said, "I will forever be thinking of you and Louie, my son, as you are my wife by law, the law of God and you belong to me and me to you."

Nike will air a touching wordless tribute to retiring Yankee Derek Jeter during Tuesday's All-Star Game that is more New York than police officers enjoying thin-crust pizza. Billy Crystal, Spike Lee, Michael Jordan, Carmelo Anthony, members of the Yankees "Core Four," fans, (unshown) Mets players and more appear in the 90-second spot, all tipping their cap to The Captain. Relax, Blink-182 fans, it's happening. Guitarist and vocalist Tom Delonge announced on Instagram today that an album is on the way, and apologized for the delay. The posted image features the three band members in undated photos of dubious quality and hairstyles, with the caption "Rehearsals start today ... And yes there will be a new album #SorryForTheWait #Blink." The California rockers last released an album in 2011 (not that long ago) but fans have been eager since several false starts. It's been 15 years since popular album Enema of the State.

Facing the heat so others don't
A North Carolina father gets into a hot car and sits for 12 minutes. Sounds like thrilling viewing right? Well, in fact, the video has gone viral and so has the message. Terry Bartley posted a YouTube video on June 20 to raise awareness following the death of 22-month-old Cooper Harris. Harris had been left in a car for nine hours in 90-degree temperatures. Bartley can be seen in the clip sweating profusely and visibly agitated. "I was losing air, it was like I was sitting in a microwave cooking," he said. The video has picked up traction and now other parents are taking up Bartley's challenge and posting their own.
