TAKING A BREAK?

Is Jennifer Lawrence really going to take a year-long break from acting? According to veteran producer Harvey Weinstein, the 23-year-old Hunger Games actor is planning an extended hiatus from the big screen. "She's going to have a long break for a year where she won't do anything," said Weinstein in an interview with the U.K. newspaper The Sun on Sunday. "She deserves a rest." Weinstein worked with Lawrence on the film Silver Linings Playbook, which earned her the Best Actress Oscar last year.

FALLEN IDOL

Strange but true: American Idol will end up losing money this season. According to TMZ's sources, Fox's reality competition series will end up in the debit column for the first time since the show launched in 2002. Currently in its 13th season, Idol's money woes are being credited to the enormous salaries paid to its cast (returning judge Jennifer Lopez reportedly collects $15-million a season and host Ryan Seacrest earns likewise) and the fact the producers spent upwards of $5-million on a new set this year. Even more worrisome: The show's ratings have dipped 26 per cent from last season, which in turn is costing the franchise millions in advertising dollars.

BAD BLOOD

Don't expect to see KISS perform at this year's induction ceremony for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Former lead guitarist Ace Frehley says that he will not participate in the ceremony in New York in mid-April because former bandmates Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley insist on playing with replacement guitarist Tommy Thayer. "I'm not gonna get on stage with Tommy wearing my makeup. That's absurd," Frehley said during a recent radio interview. In a statement posted to his website, original KISS drummer Peter Criss says that neither he or Frehley have received an offer to perform at the event. "I wanted to make sure that fans understood that no original performance, in or out of makeup, has been offered to us," Criss said.

FINAL MOMENTS

Actor Liam Neeson has revealed the details of his final conversation with late wife Natasha Richardson. Talking on 60 Minutes, the Irish actor revealed that he spoke on the phone to his actress wife shortly after she sustained a fatal head injury on a Quebec ski slope in March, 2009. "I spoke to her and she said, 'Oh, darling. I've taken a tumble in the snow.' That's how she described it," Neeson told interviewer Anderson Cooper. Neeson also explained how he made the decision to take the mother of his two children off life support after doctors told him she was brain dead. "She and I had made a pact," he revealed. "If any of us got into a vegetative state that we'd pull the plug."
