Mindy Kaling stars in The Mindy Project.

POSTER GIRL

Mindy Kaling says there are downfalls to being a poster girl for plus-sized women. During her appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! this week, The Mindy Project creator and star admitted she's a little weary of people complimenting her for having a body that veers close to normal human proportions. "People are like, 'It's so nice that Mindy Kaling doesn't feel like she needs to subscribe to the ideals of beauty'," said the actress. "And I'm like, 'I do subscribe!'" Kaling also told Kimmel that she runs and works out regularly. "It takes a lot of effort to look like a normal chubby woman!"

FLAWS AND ALL

Teen pop sensation Lorde wants her fans to know that "flaws are okay." The 17-year-old singer recently shared photos of herself on Twitter that were taken during her performance at Chile's Lollapalooza festival. In the first, obviously-retouched photo, Lorde's face reveals a pristine complexion; in the second photo, her face is clearly marked with acne blemishes. Lorde's comment with the comparison pics: "I find this curious – two photos from today, one edited so my skin is perfect and one real. Remember flaws are ok :-)."

DOG DAYS

Miley Cyrus has gone into mourning: Her beloved dog Floyd has died. The Wrecking Ball singer went onto Twitter on Wednesday to post the comment, "I don't wanna say it because I don't want it to be real…But my precious baby Floyd has passed away. I am broken." Cyrus owned Floyd, an Alaskan Klee Kai, since 2011 and has posted multiple pictures of them together in recent months. Cyrus also has a Chihuahua named Bean, a Rottweiler-beagle mix named Happy, a German Shepherd called Mat and a mongrel rescue pup called Mary Jane. But Floyd was obviously the dog closest to Miley's heart, as evidenced in her followup tweet: "I know I don't mean it but I wish he would've taken me with him. This is unbearable. What am I gonna do without him?"

NEW YORK, NEW YORK

You haven't seen New York until you've seen it through the eyes of Captain Jean-Luc Picard and Gandalf. Former Star Trek: The Next Generation star Patrick Stewart and Lord of the Rings mainstay Ian McKellen commemorated their recent Broadway run by tweeting out a series of photos featuring them posing in front of Big Apple landmarks. The pair recently shared the stage for critically-acclaimed productions of Waiting for Godot and No Man's Land. In the photos, Stewart and McKellen look like happy tourists as they smile for the camera atop the Empire State Building and wear bowler hats posing in front of Nathan's Famous Deli.
