A million fangirl hearts around the world are breaking because the dream of settling down with Ryan Gosling and his bedroom eyes became even more unattainable today.

That's because Eva Mendes is seven months pregnant and Gosling is the baby daddy, reports US Weekly.

Mendes and Gosling were co-star parents in The Place Beyond the Pines and have been dating (on and off) since filming in 2011.

In the movie, Luke (Gosling) is a reckless face-tattoo-rocking motorcycle-riding carny who revisits the town where he met one-night-stand Romina (Mendes) only to find that she had his baby while he was gone.

Gosling's character has trouble parenting - to provide for his kid, Luke starts robbing banks - but the little family is still adorable: One of the most memorable images from the movie is of Luke and Romina eating ice cream with their baby.

We'd like to think Gosling himself would be a more reliable father. He seems to be a compassionate guy; he got emotional during the filming of his actor son's baptism.

And having children is something Gosling says he wants. "I'd like to be making babies but I'm not, so I'm making movies," he told UK's The Times. "I'll make movies until I make babies."

Mendes has superlative opinions about her boyfriend: "He's the best," she told E! News in March.

News of a pregnancy might be more than some Gosling admirers can handle. Last month, a Facebook Father's Day hoax convinced almost one million fans that Gosling adopted a baby.

Yet while the dream of having Gosling's babies may seem beyond impossible now, there will always be the Feminist Ryan Gosling book and online Hey Girl gifs, which feature images of Gosling with encouraging sayings, to get a girl through the day.

The couple's relationship has had some ups and downs since they became an item in 2011 and it's unclear whether marriage is on the horizon - but there is absolutely no doubt that their baby would be the cutest.

Hey girl, it's going to be okay.

NOVEL MOVIE

A new J.K. Rowling short story featuring grown-up Harry Potter was the book buzz yesterday – but a Pulitzer Prize-winning novel that features a small painting of an even smaller bird is garnering big film-industry attention. Warner Bros. wants to buy the rights to Donna Tartt's bestselling The Goldfinch, but the author has not yet made a decision. There are no other studios currently chasing the book.

PULLING TEETH

A dentist named Craig Gordon has been trying to get Kim Kardashian to pay her dental bill for over a decade. When Gordon wasn't paid for work replacing her silver fillings with porcelain in 2001, he took the issue to court. The reality star didn't show up, however, so Gordon received a default judgment for around $1,500 in 2002. In the past decade, the debt increased to $3,500. Now Gordon is showing his teeth and attempting to sell the judgment for $13,000.

NEGATIVE VIEW

Talk-show host Elisabeth Hasselbeck is not having a happy holiday since learning that Rosie O'Donnell will be rejoining The View. Hasselbeck left The View in 2013 after almost a decade and is now co-hosting Fox & Friends. She criticized O'Donnell for disrespecting the military and the network. "What could ruin my vacation more than this?" Hasselbeck told her co-hosts at Fox & Friends in a phone interview while on break from the show.

SWEET SHOTS

Katie Couric married investment executive John Molner in a small wedding on June 21, but has finally released some photographs of the ceremony. The 57-year-old anchor says that her new husband did most of the wedding planning: The backyard ceremony was simple and elegant and the couple walked each other down the aisle. "I am very glad that Matt [Lauer] and Howard Stern did not crash," Couric said. She lost her first husband to cancer in 1998.
