Mmm, The Simpsons and Lego, together at last.
We always knew that Homer Simpson was a blockhead, but who could have guessed he was really made of Lego?
Mashable reports on the new Simpsons Lego set that was recently unveiled at the International Toy Fair in New York.
Arriving in stores this week, the brightly coloured Lego house is a virtual replicate of the beloved cartoon clan's abode and just like The Lego Movie that continues to dominate the North American box office (last weekend it steamrolled over RoboCop!), the set is exacting in detail.
Exactly how exacting? As per the series, there's a Krusty the Clown poster in Bart's room and the uber-violent program Itchy and Scratchy is playing on the TV in the livingroom.
The Simpsons house, which has a hinged removable roof, comes with Lego versions of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, Maggie and neighbor Ned Flanders. Other Simpsons characters, including Comic Book Guy, C. Montgomery Burns, et al, will be available in May.
Which, not coincidentally, is right around the same time The Simpsons will air an entire episode in which the characters will be made of Lego blocks.
Call it shameless corporate synergy or just a really cool idea, but the 550th episode of the series, titled Brick Like Me, will find everyman Homer waking up to discover that everyone in Springfield is made of Lego.
Homer then has to "put together" (get it?) the pieces behind the mystery and attempt to make things right in his inimitable bumbling manner.
The Lego episode of The Simpsons will air May 4.
