Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh and Pippa Middleton on the balcony at Buckingham Palace after the Royal Wedding of Prince William to Catherine Middleton on April 29, 2011 in London, England. The marriage of the second in line to the British throne was led by the Archbishop of Canterbury and was attended by 1900 guests, including foreign Royal family members and heads of state. Thousands of well-wishers from around the world have also flocked to London to witness the spectacle and pageantry of the Royal Wedding.John Stillwell-WPA Pool/Getty Images

Impeccably toned and dressed controversially in a figure-hugging white dress, it was Pippa Middleton who nearly crashed Twitter yesterday morning as she held her sister's train and escorted the pint-sized bridesmaids and flower girls.

Some say Philippa, or Pip, as her family calls her, overshadowed Kate on her big day, at least on the Web, where the 27-year-old party planner was trending higher than her sister on the social-networking site Friday morning.

Royal watchers cooed over her hourglass frame in that dress - more specifically, the back of that dress, lined seductively with organza-covered buttons.

"Oh god. Pippa looks better. AWKWARD," one royal fan tweeted.

"Pippa Middleton stole the show!" squealed another.

"Kate looks just fine but she should've made Pippa wear a redesigned pair of curtains," was the sage advice of a third.

Tradition dictates that a woman should never wear white to another's wedding, for fear of upstaging the bride.

On The View, host Joy Behar was incensed: "You're not supposed to compete with the bride."

Co-host Sherri Shepherd chimed in: "I'm going to make sure none of my bridesmaids outshine me. You will be in a freaking muumuu."

Both Kate and Pippa's dresses were designed by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen, but it was Pippa's minimalist, cowl-necked gown that was less expected, and fashion bloggers are heralding it a bridal trend. (Kate's dress was more traditional, and with its sweetheart bodice and lace sleeves, bore a striking resemblance to Grace Kelly's wedding gown.)

It isn't the first time Pippa's garnered the spotlight. As part of her duties as maid of honour, she suggested disco balls for the big bash at Buckingham Palace, a move that palace aides were reportedly none too keen on. (Young Prince William apparently defended the party maven's choice.) After the ceremony, Pippa stunned the world again in a plunging, emerald-green evening dress.

The Edinburgh University graduate has been linked to former cricket player Alex Loudon, now a financier. Although he stayed out of the limelight, Mr. Loudon was at the wedding, much to the chagrin of Pippa's many new online suitors, who have even coined a new, cringe-worthy acronym for the woman: PILF.

When they weren't pronouncing her "hot," newfound Pippa fans were playing matchmaker: "Prince Harry & Pippa Middleton - anyone else thinking what I'm thinking?" was retweeted throughout the day.

The only thing royal viewers were not so keen on? Pippa and Kate's over-the-top mist-on tans, which made their skin radiate deep chestnut from the stark white gowns.
