Queen Elizabeth II takes part in Canada Day celebrations on Parliament Hill in Ottawa on Thursday July 1, 2010.Sean Kilpatrick/The Canadian Press

Should she stay or should she go?

We're talking about Her Majesty the Queen, of course. Does she represent an important part of Canada's history? Is the monarchy a terribly outdated institution we should turf? Or does it still have a role to play in Canada?

It's an issue we can't seem to agree on as a nation. For example, Globe and Mail readers were fairly split on whether or not Canadians should foot the bill for the royal visit.

Leah McLaren (who thinks Canadians might love the ol' gal a little too much), Judith Timson ( Globe Life columnist and a big fan of the monarchy) and Caroline Alphonso (who was right in the middle of the frenzy, reporting the Queen's every move for the Globe) were online earlier. Are you a fan of the monarchy?
