Elizabeth Grant Skin Care Golden Caviar Eye Pads

The promise

These eye pads will target fine lines and wrinkles by nourishing the skin from inside out with natural and luxurious ingredients. Under-eye skin will appear smooth, firm, youthful and radiant.

How it works

It's not just a fancy name – they're actually infused with gold and caviar. Harvested from non-endangered Canadian salmon, the caviar extract contains nutrient-rich Omega-3 fatty acids, which gives skin a rejuvenating kick, while the 14-carat gold powder is touted for its firming benefits, especially around the eye and neck area, and has been shown to ward off UV damage and discolouration. Add to that gold's other skin-perfecting benefits – such as boosting circulation, retaining moisture and preserving its anti-inflammatory qualities – and you've got yourself a valid excuse to invest in gold in all of its variations.

How to use it

Apply the pads under the eye area and remove after 15 minutes. Using light pressure, pat the remaining emulsion into the skin. For best results, use two to three times weekly after cleansing.

The bottom line

There's something very Alexis Carrington about using a product infused with gold and caviar. I suddenly had an overwhelming desire to pop some Champagne and get into a catfight with my ex-husband's new wife. But I folded laundry instead. And if that isn't an indication of how un-Carrington my life is, I'm also suffering from some fairly serious sleep-deprivation due to a massive workload, which means the baggage under my eyes is veering on oversized. (If Alexis were writing this column, she'd describe them as a set of Louis Vuitton Monogram Révélation Keepall 45.) These eye pads gave me some much-needed relief by cooling the eye area and shrinking my bags to carry-on size. But most of all, they made me feel like I was pampering myself with something luxurious, which is nice, since I don't have any rich ex-husbands to foot my Champagne bills.
