Boots No.7 Protect & Perfect Intense Body Serum

The promise

A new addition to the popular No. 7 range, this body serum is intended to glide on instantly to soften and brighten dull skin. It has been independently proved to rejuvenate the look of skin in four weeks by hydrating, smoothing and toning.

How it works

An ultra-moisturizing complex that combines ingredient-du-jour argan oil with hyaluronic acid provides long-lasting hydration, while a proprietary firming complex composed of retinyl palmitate, antioxidants and firming peptides along with alfalfa extract boost collagen and elastin in the skin.

And as if that wasn't enough to send those fine lines and wrinkles packing, it also contains pro-retinol vitamin A to normalize skin-cell renewal.

How to use it

Apply to skin after showering, paying special attention to the chest, shoulders, arms and any other area prone to aging.

The bottom line

I don't care what the Duchess of Cambridge says – I'm not wearing nude pantyhose. As I cling desperately to these dying days of moderate weather and before I succumb to the oppressive (albeit slimming) clutches of black tights, I will do everything I can to enhance the look of my bare legs. Thankfully, I'm still holding on to a hint of a tan (don't judge: I wear SPF), so this serum, with its light-reflecting effect, really makes my limbs glow. It's also very hydrating while still being light and easily absorbed. It's no wonder the No. 7 range is Britain's bestselling anti-aging brand. Thing is, I feel like its scent, so heavily perfumed and somewhat overpowering, has the ability to negate the dewy, radiant skin it creates by making me smell like, well, a grandma (a wealthy grandma, mind you, but a grandma all the same). And as I strive to look like the Duchess (sans the hose), I don't really want to smell like the Queen at the same time.
