Tom's of Maine Naturally Dry Antiperspirant

The promise

This antiperspirant stick is touted as the first made from naturally derived ingredients and aims to keep those who use it dry and fresh for up to 24 hours.

How it works

Made with sustainably sourced ingredients derived from plant and mineral sources, the stick contains no artificial fragrances, preservatives or silicone. It comes either unscented or powder-scented and uses olive-leaf extract for odour fighting and palm kernel oil for skin conditioning. What's more, the entire product is recyclable from cap to canister.

How to use it

Apply to underarms in even strokes whenever needed.

The bottom line A lot of people get up in (under)arms about the chemical whats-its in everyday commercial antiperspirants. Me? I'm more of a drynessis- paramount kind of gal. Maybe it's because I tend to get a bit schvitzy at the most inopportune moments, like when I'm about to hug someone, dole out a high-five or testify to the gods above – you'd be surprised at how often I do that one. Lately, though, I have started to worry about the chemical whats-its (not the scientific terminology) in my beauty products. And since I wear antiperspirant every day, it's kind of a large concern. As it turns out, the active ingredient in this "natural" antiperspirant is aluminum chlorohydrate, which, in fairness, is naturally derived from aluminum salts, but is hardly what you would expect to find in a product that positions itself as a healthy alternative to commercial antiperspirants.

And is this product really the first of its kind in antischvitz history? Who knows.

Regardless, it did keep me dry all day, so you can believe that claim. And, frankly, being dry and pit-stain-free is all I need to testify to the gods above.
