How can I get my skin to glow this winter?

The question

I'll be baring some skin when I go on vacation later this month. How can I get a glow before I leave (short of visiting a tanning salon)?

I'm so glad you are skipping the fake-and-bake booth, in lieu of which I've laid out a weeklong routine to prepare your skin. For starters, you'll want to exfoliate every day. In the shower, try using a spin brush with gentle bristles so you don't irritate the skin. The Clarisonic Skincare Brush, which can be used on the face and body, is gentle and helps to improve skin tone.

Next, moisturize all over twice a day with a lotion, not cream. (Using too much cream can lead to blemishes. A coconut-oil-based moisturizer, such as The Body Shop's Coconut Milk Body Lotion, will help replenish the skin's moisture while it softens.)

The last step is working on your glow: Once you get to your destination, use something that gives your skin a shimmer or sheen.
