Is it true that fragrances can smell different on different people? And if so, how can I tell if something works on me?
This is true! Everyone's body chemistry is different and the natural oils and hormones our bodies create make up our own distinct smell. With that in mind, your signature scent is different from another person's, so applying the same perfume as your friend will undoubtedly result in a different smell.
The best way to test out a scent for yourself is to spray once on your wrist and, above all, do not rub it with the other. This common action "bruises" the scent and actually alters the perfume's composition. Instead, let it sit for five minutes so it has time to mix with your body chemistry.
After one sniff, you'll know if the scent works for you.
