Garnier BB Cream Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfector

The promise

Inspired by the popular creams widely used in Asia to smooth and brighten the complexion, BB Cream – BB stands for Blemish Balm – promises to even skin tone, correct wrinkles and imperfections, boost radiance, hydrate and protect with an SPF 15.

How it works

Lipidure, hyaluronic acid and glycerine provide all-day moisture, while vitamin C, caffeine and an SPF 15 protect against premature aging and boost luminosity. Mineral pigments even out the complexion and conceal blemishes. This BB is available in a light-medium and medium-dark formulation.

How to use it

Gently apply to cleansed skin daily.

The bottom line

If I tell you something, will you promise not to get mad at me?

I hardly ever get blemishes. You could say I'm genetically blessed in the skin department (in the thighs, though, not so much). So I'm probably not the right candidate for a BB cream of any kind.

Because they're like the polka-dot blouse of the beauty industry right now, though, I had to test one out. I was pleasantly surprised by how hydrating the cream is, as I automatically think, every time I squeeze a tinted substance out of a tube, it's going to go on like the tempera paint it resembles.

And the hydration lasted all day long. As someone who shuns foundation of any kind, however, I couldn't shake the sensation that my skin looked and felt cakey. So I think I'll continue to ride on the coattails of my genes for the time being. Until they give out, I'll have to hope that science can hook me up with something that's less BB and more me-me.
