Raw Essentials Radiant Face Scrub
The promise
Formulated using 100-per-cent raw active ingredients that are never heated above 46 degrees Celsius, this gentle scrub promises to exfoliate without causing micro scratches (a common side effect of other scrubs) because of its smooth, round microbeads with natural soy extracts. The ingredients are said to be easily recognized by the skin and readily absorbed, providing maximum nourishment and brighter, clearer skin.
How it works
Pure aloe hydrates, moisturizes and soothes skin, keeping it firm and tight, while eucalyptus-leaf oil protects from inflammation. It is devoid of laurel sulphates and uses sucrose cocoate, a non-ionic cleanser, to thoroughly clean skin.
With no synthetic preservatives, artificial colours, fragrances or genetically modified organisms, it is safe for all skin types.
How to use it
Squeeze a small amount into your palm and add water to lather. Swirl over the entire face, avoiding the eye area. Rinse thoroughly. It can be used morning or night.
The bottom line
I should probably mention that the Raw Essentials line is the brainchild of former supermodel, actress and raw-food advocate Carol Alt. I should probably also mention that she looks amazing for someone who claims to have been born more than 50 years ago. Though I didn't meet her when she was in Toronto recently to launch the line, my friend did and claims that Alt indeed seems to glow from the inside out. And while my friend chalks it up to her raw diet and products, I tend to err on the side of good (i.e., supermodel) genes. As far as scrubs go, this was too gentle to scrub anything off my face, while the super-raw ingredients left my skin, well, kind of raw. I guess I prefer my beauty products at least half-baked.
