The promise

Developed in conjunction with California-based nail-design company Minx, Chic Prints allow you to indulge in the season's latest nail trends at home via graphic sticker appliqués that are quick and easy to use as well as mess- and commitment-free.

How it works

The pre-cut strips adhere to your nails and last up to two days. They are available in eight graphic prints and also come in limited-edition patterns.

How to use it

Clean bare nails with rubbing alcohol to remove any excess oils. Choose the correct pre-cut strip for your nail width - trim with scissors if necessary. Rub the strip for a few seconds to warm it up, gently peel back and apply to the nail with the rounded tip at the cuticle. Rub the strip across the nail from the centre working outward. Press the excess strip over the edge of the nail and file down in a vertical motion with an ultra-fine crystal nail file. To remove, rub the strip to warm and gently peel off from side to side.

The bottom line

It just felt wrong wearing stars-and-stripes-themed nail stickers in the middle of February, as Independence Day is five months away and I'm not American. Oh, and I'm in my 30s and was wearing nail stickers. My nine-year-old dinner companion described them as "fantastical," which I truly wish they were. Because then they would be like unicorns, which exist only in the imagination of young girls and aging hippie artists prone to flashbacks.

If only.
