The question
Is it a good idea to match your makeup to your outfit?
The answer
Going matchy-matchy isn't necessarily a terrible idea when it comes to your makeup and wardrobe, but it can get a little boring. Rocking a crimson cocktail dress and sporting the same shade of lipstick, for instance, may work well, but it's also been done a thousand times before.
Why not try playing with colours that complement each other instead? A gold shadow paired with a navy dress, for example, is both pretty and interesting. What I'm saying is that it's largely a matter of preference. (Unless, of course, you're wearing a sea-foam green bridesmaid's dress. If you smother your eyes in the same shade, you're definitely going to stand out. Just not in a good way.)
