The question: My formerly brown hair worked well with the earth tones I generally favour. Now that I'm going with my naturally grey hair, however, I am surprised to find that those colours wash me out rather than flatter. Jewel tones seem to work and I don't mind them on occasion, but I don't want to wear them exclusively. What do you recommend?

The answer: If you'd rather avoid wearing jewel tones every day, stick to showcasing colours like black and white with the addition of gold, bronze and gunmetal greys (think Meryl Streep in The Devil Wears Prada). You will still be keeping within the complimentary earth-tone family, but the metallic finishes will add some sparkle and highlighting to your skin as well as showcase your hair without competing with it. Toss these colours on through both your jewellery and your makeup.
