The question

I love wearing blazers at the office, but it feels bizarre to wear one crammed under my winter coat. Should I toss one in my handbag or keep all my blazers hoarded at the office?

The answer

For starters, gloves can be shoved into handbags, but blazers deserve more respect. Your layering query is legitimate, though: All that bunching is no fun before 9 a.m. So keep one or two blazers at the office, by all means (but on proper hangers – never on the back of your chair, which can warp the shoulders).

Every so often, rotate them with others from your closet for wardrobe variety: If you have a morning meeting elsewhere, you'll be happy you left some at home. Of course, men don outerwear over suits without balking over bulk, so the blazer isn't necessarily to blame. Maybe you just need a coat with roomier sleeves?
