ORGANZA One could almost draw a direct line from Bill Gaytten’s spring/summer 2012 collection for Christian Dior Haute Couture to some of the looks at John Rocha, Temperley London and Erdem (left). They all used the filmy fabric to give sheerness while preserving shape. But Topshop Unique took a more novel direction, applying pieces as an underskirt.Valerio Mezzanotti
WHITE BOOTS The styles were different – modified cowboy versus updated mod – but Thomas Tait (left) and J.W. Anderson both showed white boots that gleamed like porcelain tile. Acne’s white gladiator sandals, meanwhile, created a striping effect up the leg.Lewis Whyld
METALLICS Call it the Olympic-medal effect. Mark Fast used soft-foiled metalic yarn to weave his slinky dresses. The ruched versions at Burberry Prorsum (left) looked as if slickened with a metallic topcoat. Lustrous gold textiles appeared at Jonathan Saunders and Simone Rocha.Jonathan Short
