While the aggressive sexism depicted on the series Mad Men is long gone, the show's voluptuous silhouettes survive as designers continue to embrace sixties-style femininity. Their latest obsession? Full, princess-like skirts à la Betty Draper. But unlike Don's repressed ex-wife, the look feels just at home (not to mention a lot more liberated) at the office.

- To avoid recalling your prom, soften the formal silhouette of the skirt by paring it with knits as in Louis Vuitton's fall show (above left). Keep in mind that you need to play against the chunky skirt by keeping proportions in check. To get it right, stick to form-fitting, light-gauge knits.

- While the look is certainly borrowed form the sixties, the long gloves from the runway should be kept there, at least when it comes to an office environment. Details that are too literal - yep, those bowed shoes, too - can read too precious in the workplace.

- Feel free to ditch those heels, pairing the look with flat leather riding boots to make it modern (and more comfortable) instead.
