I'm a 35-year-old woman and am thinking of getting an undercut - you know, when you shave the side or sides of your head and keep it long on top. Maybe it's the memory of my punk-rock youth, but I still find it sexy. Is it inappropriate for an old broad like me?

I never understand this question, whether it's coming from women or men: Why would looking sexy be inappropriate for someone over 30 or even over 60? Do we not have sex, too? Why would we have no access to sexy? I share your punk-rock past and still find almost any lady with a tough-girl haircut, particularly one that shows a bit of bare skull, desirable. (Remember Annabella Lwin, the Burmese-English singer of the eighties pop group Bow Wow Wow? That haircut was the hottest thing about the band.) Of course, it wouldn't be appropriate in a very conservative workplace, but, outside the office, evidence of a youthful and daring spirit simply takes years off your apparent age.
