Party photos of the week: Get Lit fundraiser
Musicians, Olympians, and journalists alike joined forces in Parkdale last night for the Get Lit fundraiser at the Neubacher Shor Gallery. The evening features readings from a select set of Canadians who recite a few chapters from an inspiring book. Rob Ford-reporting journalist Robyn Doolittle read from Tina Fey’s Bossypants and received quite the chuckle from the eclectic literary group as she read a passage about being a woman in the workforce. On the flip side, Damian Abraham, who is used to ripping his shirt off on stage as front man for the punk band Fucked Up, nervously read from David Piece’s GB84, showing the softer side to his otherwise colourful appearance. Money raised from the evening benefits the Start2Finish Reading and Running Club, an organization that helps inner city kids living in poverty train while mentoring their reading and writing skills. parties@globeandmail.com
