Party photos of the week: Power Ball art party

It isn’t summer in the city without the annual Power Ball art party. Entertaining Toronto’s most eclectic crowd since 1999, the Power Plant’s outrageous fundraiser is always good for creating a spectacle. This year’s theme, Old/New World, paid homage to the transition from analog to digital technology through a laundry list of cool and emerging talent. British artist Naomi Kashiwagi challenged sound by appropriated records on a wind-up gramophone, New York-based duo Confettisystem created a hanging, gold confetti installation, as well as new work by Montreal artist Jon Rafman, an installation of B.Y.O.B. (Bring Your Own Beamer), and pieces by Christine Davis and Oli Sorenson. Held on June 5 at the gallery’s Harbourfront space, more than 1,500 guests raised $425,000 to support the gallery’s exhibitions and public programs throughout the year. parties@globeandmail.com
