Burberry Prorsum designer Christopher Bailey made good use of his Bedazzler this season: Many of his collection’s key looks – including transparent jackets, lace trench coats and calf-length skirts – were adorned with oversized stones. At Prada, embellishment popped up on collars, dresses and even striped leg warmers, signalling that this trend will likely trickle down for a few sparkly seasons to come.

While the sizeable jewels on Burberry’s pieces are eye-catching, a top accented with diminutive baubles is easier to layer under cardigans or tuck into pants and skirts.

Chunky stones and dainty lace make an interesting juxtaposition, but an opaque embellished cotton fabric is better for the office (and for wearing undergarments).
