The perfect bread to go with ribs or grilled chicken. Serve alone or butter lavishly for homemade garlic bread.

Servings: Makes 1 loaf

Speedy garlic cheese bread

3 cups all-purpose flour

1 tbsp sugar

1 1/2 tsp kosher salt

1 tbsp baking powder

341 ml bottle lager

1/4 cup finely sliced garlic

1 tbsp Dijon mustard

1 cup grated cheddar cheese

1 tbsp butter, melted.

1 tsp sesame seeds

Method

Preheat oven to 350 F.

Combine flour, sugar, salt and baking powder in a large bowl. Stir in lager, garlic, mustard and cheese until mixture forms a batter.

Turn into buttered 9 x 5 loaf pan. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake for 50 to 55 minutes or until light golden and firm to touch. A toothpick inserted in centre should come out clean.

Cool on a rack. Keeps 2 days.
