wine review

A red from a road less travelled. That road would be Alto Adige in northern Italy, alpine terrain that’s home to the underappreciated teroldego grape. This is full-bodied and supple, with smooth blackberry fruit set against an elegant frame of light but sturdy tannins. Juicy acidity keeps it lively, as do a tangy-woodsy essence and a hint of pepper. Excellent weight, poise and complexity for the money. Available in Ontario.
