wine review

Full and chewy, this is an uncommon blend of syrah, malbec and petit verdot. Winemaker Robert Summers clearly has a talent for stirring the pot. The texture is almost gummy – in a pleasant way – and the flavours suggest plum, blackberry, licorice and smoked meat, complemented by herbs and supported by polished tannins. Perfect for lamb, grilled pork sausages or charcuterie. Available direct, hestercreek.com.
