Solid Tuscan red at a reasonable price. It's a blend of mainly sangiovese (or, rather, the local Vino Nobile clone called prugnolo gentile), with splashes of canaiolo and less-traditional merlot. Medium-weight, the wine suggests flavours of dried cherry, old wood and earth, with an enticingly vibrant, salty quality. The tannins are chalky but light, with just enough grip for structure. Worth cellaring for up to five more years.
