It happens. You drink wine, you spill wine - on clothes, table linens, sofas and carpets. The club-soda trick can work well, but you don't always have a bottle of Schweppes in the fridge. That's where this handy, portable bottle comes in. It's compatible with most fabrics (it even worked on a precious, light-coloured lavender shirt I was wearing the other week). The culprit? A lip-smacking Amarone that dribbled down my chin. Flip open the leak-proof cap, spray and blot with a napkin or cloth. Odourless and non-toxic, it tackles old stains as well as new, but you may get the best results by using it right away, while the spot is still wet. For clothing, follow up by laundering as soon as you can. The 1-ounce spray bottle fits neatly in a purse or jacket pocket, so you can discreetly carry it to dinner parties and sip worry-free. Geeky? Sure. But so is walking around with a purple-spotted shirt.
