Carly Ring, 26, Ottawa

Pounds dropped: 70

My turning point: I was stuck in a very unhealthy relationship with my ex. After he and I discussed my weight one night, he told me "your thighs shouldn't touch." I realized I had totally let myself become lost and let my body "go."

I had always been a bigger girl growing up, but never did I think I would have reached 236 pounds, size 18. A week later we broke up, and I had gone to a doctor's appointment. My doctor had informed me that I was Stage One Obese. That is when my weight loss journey started … Here I am two years later.

My method: I started walking the "two-kilometre loop" by my parents' house when I moved home … gradually turning walking into jogging. This year I completed my first half-marathon for the Ottawa Race weekend.

I would work out four to fives times a week … slow and steady. Before I knew it I was down to 170 pounds and a size 8. I have never felt so healthy and I couldn't be happier with my body.

My kryptonite: My kryptonite were peanut butter M&M's! I used to devour those!
