Sherry Lang-Laveau and François Laveau
How is training going? "It's going well," Ms. Lang-Laveau says. She has been running with a group twice a week, and with the couple's treadmill broken, Mr. Laveau is getting outside for more runs. But, "with a month to go, it's going to have to be heavy-duty, long training," she says.
Do you drink or smoke? Neither are smokers. And while they will share a bottle of wine with dinner two or three nights a week, they have cut down to just one glass each week, and never on nights before they have runs planned.
Do you see running as an excuse to engage in any vices? "No, I don't put those two together at all," Ms. Lang-Laveau says. Infact, running has made them more conscious of nutrition.

How is training going? "It's going well," Ms. Choi says. "I haven't been out as often as I should or would like to be, but I'm on the treadmill." She has also managed to get outside for runs about three times in the past week.
Do you smoke or drink? She has never smoked, but she does drink socially - an occasional glass of wine when she's out for dinner with friends.
Do you see running as an excuse to indulge any vices? "I don't. I love to run and it's a way to stay healthy," she says. She doesn't think she could run if she was doing it for any other reason than the enjoyment of it. "Running is physically demanding, so I think it would be hard if you didn't love it."

Jen Cooper
How is training going? "It's not going very well," she says. While she did 6.5 kilometres in 40 minutes over the weekend, finding the time to train remains a challenge.
Do you smoke or drink? "I used to smoke," says Ms. Cooper, who quit six years ago. She took up running races as a way to help her quit. As for drinking, she will have a beer once in a while or a glass of wine with dinner.
Do you see running as an excuse to indulge in any vices? "I don't do that with alcohol, but I do that with food a little bit," she says. "I'll allow myself to maybe eat more treats than I normally would because I'm exercising regularly."
