Need to get fitter for the hotter weather? Take a minute on the stairs to work your bum and core and challenge your balance.

1. Place your right leg on the first step, with the edge of your foot parallel with the edge of the step. Dangle your left leg off the side, bend your right knee slightly. This is your starting position. 2. Let your right hip slightly jut out to the side, so that your left leg and hip lower slightly toward the ground. The movement is small, so try not to bend your right knee; rather let the motion come from your pelvis. 3. Then use your right bum muscle to slowly propel your left hip and leg back to the starting position. Repeat 10 times before switching sides.
