Instead of bending over to pick something up, try strengthening your lower body with this quick exercise

Start with your legs considerably wider than hip distance apart. Use your bum muscles to turn your legs out so that your toes turn out. This is your starting position.

Keep your back straight and chest out. Bend at your ankles, knees and hips so you lower yourself toward the ground.
