Ania Drygalski and Lee Heaver

30 and 32, White Rock, B.C.

Pounds dropped: 68 (combined total)

Our turning point: A year ago, neither one of us was happy with the shape we were in – and we talked about learning about the foods we eat and how our bodies process them. We bought a book called The 4-Hour Body by Tim Ferriss and promised each other we'd try it out for two months. We both saw amazing results very early. (Ania, for instance, lost 10 pounds in the first month.) The changes in our diet and the fact we were doing it together meant we were hooked almost instantly.

Our method: We started with diet, then exercise came later. Initially the first step was the basics of the Slow Carb diet, found in the book: essentially we omitted white carbs, sugar, fruit, and started eating a lot of protein, veggies and legumes. The best part? We can eat whatever we want for one day a week. The book also recommends some terrific workouts with kettle bells. They provide a great weight lifting workout along with cardio, all in one. We do them together for about 15 minutes, three times a week. We've both shed fat and gained muscle and feel brand new. Ania lost a total of 46 pounds, while Lee dropped 22 pounds.

Our kryptonite: A cheat day favourite is Ben & Jerry's Peanut Butter Cup ice cream.
