Holiday makeup that sparkles (but not as much as the tree)
Dialling up the dazzle doesn't rest solely with your wardrobe during the holidays. A trio of makeup artists and a leading manicurist share their know-how
Changing from work wear to cocktail chic? 'One dark liner can change your whole look,' says Melissa Gibson of M.A.C. She suggets a gel-based liner, which stays put. 'You can rim it on the inside of your eye; you can use it overtop of the lid and blend it out.'
The best way to go from day to night is to add a little sparkle with glitter liner, says Lynne Ryan, national makeup artist for Murale. 'You can add it right on top of your eyeshadow. ... It gives you that evening look really, really quick.'
Want a more natural look? Pump it up with mascara and powder with a slight sheen on the cheekbone, Ryan says. Red lips remain a classic. 'We're still seeing a lot of the berry tones but it's going a bit richer,' Ryan says. 'They're almost sheer in tone but giving a little bit of shine as well, so it helps with keeping that sparkle throughout the season.'Zoonar RF

Holidays are the perfect time to be bolder, says Gucci Westman, global artistic director for Revlon. Try creating a smoky eye using a palette of lush greens. Use a darker shade on the lid, along with both darker and lighter hues to rim the lashline.The Canadian Press
Metallics can also help play up the eyes. For a twist on the traditional dark smoky eye, incorporating silver will add sheen and highlight to the eye, Gibson says. 'It stands out more, it becomes more of an evening look and it becomes something that's a little more special.'Marina Dyakonova
The polish colours of the season have a festive feel, says Revlon nail expert Leeanne Colley. 'Definitely reds and deeper, warmer tones.'
