The question: I have a large window that looks onto a brick wall. What kind of drapery should I put on it, if any?
The answer: Living in dense, urban communities has it downsides and brick-wall views are one of them. Even if it's looking at the side of a building, a large window may let in light as well as fresh air. If that's the case, keep the window, paint the walls white and hang a soft, linen drape with grommets. Another idea: If your window doesn't let in light, brick it in and hang art, which will be more beautiful than drapery (or, if the option is available and especially if you live in a house, get rid of the window altogether and install a new one somewhere that gives you a view). Despite the many beautiful drapery options available to distract from that brick wall, a view is always preferable.
