A highlight of Ross and Melissa Bonetti’s custom-designed home in West Vancouver is its main-floor bedroom bridging indoors and out.
The desk lamp by Vancouver’s Omer Arbel for Bocci features hand-blown glass offering ambient light. ‘It’s a fun piece,’ Ross says. ‘You can put it anywhere.’
The concrete platform stairs leading to the space are, says Ross, ‘the same width as the folding doors and the pool, creating visual continuity through a single seamless line.’
The stuffed cotton rabbit, a gift to Melissa from a friend, adds a touch of whimsy to the quasi-minimalist space.
From the vintage Hudson’s Bay point blanket at the foot of the bed to the eclectic collection of wall art, the look of James Milward and Sarah Foelske’s ‘weekend’ bedroom is heavy on Canadiana.
An axe is one of the many flea market finds showcased gallery-style to heighten the haute-rustic vibe.
Foelske used tartans in contrasting colours to create an array of large throw pillows.
Designed for the couple by a friend, the plaid wallpaper is punctuated by a pair of antique skis.
A riot of textures, patterns and hues, interior designer Theresa Casey’s bedroom offers a contemporary take on art deco themes and motifs.
Casey painted the framed oil of a seated woman herself: ‘It’s hyperreal, but moody at the same time.’
Casey also crafted the mirror, which was inspired by one she saw at the Danieli Hotel in Venice, Italy.
The Wedgewood vase on her nightstand belonged to her parents and is typically filled with fresh-cut flowers, an element she always includes in a room.
