What's the best way to temporarily cover hideous kitchen tile? I'm renting, so I can't paint, retile or do anything else permanent, but the peach and green flowery walls with a busily patterned black and brown floor is hard to look at. Any advice?

First, have a groovy 1970s party just for a laugh, then get to work. The kitchen wall tiles are tough to address because of the splatter factor. Your best bet is to cover them with Crezone board, a marine coated plywood you can paint. The material is water-durable and strong enough that it can stand on its own. Depending on the location, you can simply use Velcro to adhere it to the tile. If you want to cover the floors as well, I would opt for area carpets that are cut to suit the floor space and put non-slip pads underneath to keep them in place. You might also consider vinyl floor mats that come in many different sizes, exterior carpets or even Astroturf that you can putt on. Imagine improving your golf game while heating up some food!
