THE ORIGINAL GARDEN BROOM ($19.99 at Rona, Home Hardware and Lee Valley Tools) is this week's gardening tool of the week.

It's unclear whether Adam and Eve used it, but The Original Garden Broom ($19.99 at Rona, Home Hardware and Lee Valley Tools) sure works well in a you-know-what. Handmade in Sri Lanka, the product is crafted from various parts of the coconut tree: Its dense, durable sweeper is made from the midrib of fallen branches, the coir that binds it is fashioned out of coconut husk and its smooth, distinctive cap is polished coconut shell. Despite its tropical origins, the long-lasting, entirely eco-friendly tool is tough enough to use in Canada, staying firm and strong even when wet. And it's versatile enough to clear all manner of material, including leaves, pine needles and even light snow.
