From earliest times, love potions were considered essential to help nature along. They were often brewed with herbs, spices and other ingredients that some people still consider aphrodisiacs -- ginger, coriander, lemons, onions, garlic, chilies, honey, milk and eggs. I have included a love potion to serve before dinner to put you in the mood.

Servings: 2

Ingredients

2 cups milk 2 tablespoons honey 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger 1 tablespoon grated lemon rind 2 egg yolks ½ cup dark rum or brandy

Method

Combine milk, honey, lemon rind and ginger in a pot. Bring to boil and remove from heat.

Whisk together egg yolks and rum. Slowly pour in hot milk mixture and stir together. Serve warm or cool in tall glasses.
