Morning Radar: Three things we're talking about this morning

Shy chefs: One third of men won't help in the kitchen this Christmas largely because they fear messing up the festive dinner, says a British survey released Monday.

A lack of confidence, previous failures and complicated recipes were the top reasons cited by men dodging the kitchen.

About a fifth said they feel "lost" in that space. And one in six said past disses of their cooking put them off attempting the holiday feast.

Ladies: Be nice. Gentlemen: Put on your aprons, or at least set the table.

Ballerina bashing: A New York Times dance critic is getting heat after he called two Nutcracker dancers fat.

"Jenifer Ringer, as the Sugar Plum Fairy, looked as if she'd eaten one sugar plum too many; and Jared Angle, as the Cavalier, seems to have been sampling half the Sweet realm," Alastair Macaulay wrote in the review , published Nov. 29.

What followed was a tsunami of "obscene and abusive" e-mails from offended readers.

So Mr. Macauley issued an apology, sort of, in a retort titled, "Judging the Bodies in Ballet."

"Some correspondents have argued that the body in ballet is 'irrelevant.' Sorry, but the opposite is true. If you want to make your appearance irrelevant to criticism, do not choose ballet as a career. The body in ballet becomes a subject of the keenest observation and the most intense discussion."

Pass the sugar plums.

Terrier on a plane: Yes, it's another Snakes on a Plane pun after a dog woke from its sedation, busted from its cage and wreaked havoc on a U.S. Airways flight, biting people left, right and centre.

The flight, headed to Phoenix from Newark, was forced to make an emergency landing in Pittsburgh Monday after Mandy, a 12-pound Manchester terrier, ran up and down the aisle and bit a passenger and flight attendant.

Still better than Steven Slater.
