When immovable actress meets irresistible media, sparks are going to fly.

Jezebel reports that Gwyneth Paltrow has entered into a heated battle with Vanity Fair over the magazine's plan to run a less-than-flattering cover story on her next month. Did the Oscar-winning actress try to exert spin control over the piece? Hey, she's Gwyneth Paltrow.

Last month, The New York Times made public an e-mail in which Paltrow mounted a campaign against the proposed article. And true to her character, she got directly to the point.

"Vanity Fair is threatening to put me on the cover of their magazine," she wrote. "If you are asked for quotes or comments, please decline. Also, I recommend you all never do this magazine again."

Say what?

While it's sort of acceptable for Paltrow to try to control her public image, not everyone is amused by her blatant attempt to blacklist Vanity Fair writers. In NY Mag, writer Allison P. Davis pointed out that Paltrow's campaign is peculiar, "unless Vanity Fair is planning on writing the most negative piece ever."

Moreover, the Paltrow anti-Vanity Fair campaign doesn't seem to be working. The magazine reportedly plans on going ahead with the article, which now will likely get more attention than ever because of her attempts to get it quashed.

Next time, Paltrow may want to consider sending the magazine a fruit basket instead.
