Sure, you could buy Halloween candy bars at the store like everyone else, but you might have more fun trying to make them at home.

Not only can you replicate popular candy bars with ingredients in your kitchen, you also get to lick the spatula afterward.

The website Chow offers recipes for do-it-yourself Reese Peanut Butter Cups, Almond Joy, Twix, and Snickers bars, which it has renamed "PB Cups," "AlmondJay," "Twixt," and "Snickles," and labelled according to level of difficulty. (Snickles are the most challenging, since they require preparing the peanut nougat, caramel and chocolate coating separately, while PB Cups are the easiest.) According to Chow, the secret to PB Cups is to add graham cracker crumbs to the natural peanut butter centre, which makes the texture resemble the slight crunchiness of the original treat.

You could also try homemade Oh Henry bars, as shown on Tastebook.com , Kit Kat, as demonstrated on Instructables.com, and Almond Roca, posted on Foodbuzz.com.
