Well, it happened: Kanye West is finally making an honest woman out of Kim Kardashian and asked her to marry him. How long their marriage will last is another matter altogether.

As reported by Us magazine and pretty much every other tabloid site on the planet, West popped the big question to his baby mama yesterday on her 33rd birthday. And in keeping with Kanye's mercurial, overblown style, he made it a spectacle.

For such an important occasion, West, 36, rented out San Francisco's AT&T Park, home of baseball's San Francisco Giants, where he gathered Kardashian's family and friends together and directed their attention toward the stadium's bigscreen.

"He projected 'please marry me' onto the stadium screen for everyone to see," an unnamed source told Us. From all reports, Kardashian said yes and got weepy.

This is going to make one heck of an episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

Earlier the same evening, West made an unannounced appearance at an event called the Hollywood Film Awards in Beverly Hills, Calif., where he told the crowd that he had just flown in from San Francisco and was flying back that night.

West and Kardashian began dating in 2012 and welcomed baby North into the world in June of this year. No firm date has been set for the marriage, which will be the first for West and the third for Kardashian, who was previously married to NBA player Kris Humphries (for 72 days) and music producer Damon Thomas.

So how long can this new marriage made in reality-TV heaven last? The Daily Mail is already pointing out that the odds of West and Kardashian growing old together are extremely slim given her family's martial track record.

And not just because this will be Kardashian's third trip down the aisle.

As it turns out, only one marriage out of 11 has not ended in divorce or separation for the Kardashian women (Kim's mother Kris, sisters Kourtney and Khloe), Kim's stepfather Bruce Jenner or her real father, the late Robert Kardashian. Those are not great odds.

Last month, fleeting rumours that Kim's mother Kris was splitting with Bruce Jenner after 22 years together were later dismissed by both parties. In total, the current Kardashian clan has seven divorces and three separations between them.

Oh, and according to tabloid reports, Kim's sister Khloe is currently estranged from her NBA player husband Lamar Odom.

Weirdly, Kim's sister Kourtney has never officially gotten married to her partner Scott Disick, yet their relationship seems to be the strongest in the family.

Whatever transpires, West, who has already immortalized Kardashian in song with the track Perfect Bitch, is determined to take a spin on the marriage wheel with his reality-TV queen.
