Okay everybody, let's calm down. If you have a pulse and an Internet connection, I'm sure you've heard the news. And if you've heard the news, then I'm sure you have an opinion about it, one way or another.

Yes, Kim Kardashian is pregnant with the spawn of Kanye West, and the Internet exploded with the news.

For those of you who have successfully avoided the Kardashian media industry, let me catch you up on a bit of Kimye history: The pair started dating early this year, while Kim was still legally married – though separated – from her 72-day husband, Kris Humphries.

During their months together, there has been endless media coverage on their antics, including Kanye showing up on the Kardashians' reality TV show and his "makeover" of Kim's image.

But if you thought the gossip magazine industry had already reached its saturation point when it comes to Kardashian covers, Kanye's announcement last night is sure to prove you wrong.

He made the big reveal onstage during his show in Atlantic City, where during the middle of a song, Kanye said: "Stop the music for a second, stop the music."

Then he randomly announced: "Can we make some noise for my baby mama over here?"

Side note: Is it just me, or is it a little weird that Kim wasn't really a part of the announcement, beyond being gestured at in the crowd? She also didn't confirm the news until Monday morning, with the tweet: "New year, new beginnings!" and a link to an official announcement. (That tweet had been retweeted close to 5,000 times within 30 minutes of it being posted.)

Her tweet came well after her family's hyping of the news. Within minutes of the announcement, they started chiming in with congratulatory tweets, with Momanager Kris Jenner offering this quotable: "Oh BABY BABY BABY!!"

There were also at least 15 parody Twitter accounts for the unborn child, thoughtfully rounded up by Buzzfeed.

Frankly, as with almost anything Kardashian related, everything that could be said has already been said and most of it is negative. The Atlantic Wire has gathered some of the most cynical tweets, including:

"I suspect the 'Kimye' baby is that apocalypse the Mayans predicted …"

"I found out what Kim's having – in 6 or so months, she'll be giving birth to another reality show. #Truth"

"I actually honestly feel sorry for this little kid. Kanye's most definitely gonna bring out a baby's clothing line omg poor baby."

Even if you aren't a fan, you have to hand to Kimye: They sure know how to keep this publicity train going. Though, I'm sure they can up the ante on having a child. What's next? Paternity drama?
