For a country obsessed with celebrities, these survey results are a little weird.

A poll conducted by Vanity Fair and 60 Minutes asked over 1,000 adults across the country who Pippa Middleton was: 52 per cent said they didn't know.

Only a third of respondents correctly identified her as a British socialite.

But a small group, the majority men, thought Ms. Middleton might be a porn star. Maybe a little wishful thinking going on?

Perhaps this is an honest mistake since so much media attention has been about her rear end. Plus, Pippa-philes have dubbed her the "Royal Hotness". All of this has spawned a rather perverted obsession with the British socialite.

And to add to the confusion, Steven Hirsch, who is the head of Vivid Entertainment, an adult film company, offered Ms. Middleton $5-million (US) to appear in just one scene.

"As far as I was concerned, you were the star of the recent Royal Wedding," said Mr. Hirsch, as reported by New! magazine. "As I watched a broadcast of the event I couldn't help but think that with your beauty and attitude you could be an enormously successful adult star."

The gentlemanly Mr. Hirsch also extended his invite to Kate and Pippa's brother James, saying he could attend the shoot with her and be in a separate scene for $1-million (US).

No word on whether or not Ms. Middleton has accepted the offer – seems unlikely though since it would most certainly break the royal code of conduct.

Do you think people are too obsessed with Pippa Middleton's physique?
