As the world prepares to mark the 10th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks, a controversial children's colouring book entitled We Shall Never Forget 9/11: The Kids' Book of Freedom is drawing ire and a defence from the publisher, who argues it's just a learning tool.
The book includes images of the smouldering World Trade Center towers.
Another page depicts the raid on Osama bin Laden's compound in Pakistan, complete with a Navy SEAL firing on the al-Qaeda mastermind as he cowers behind his wife. The picture shows a bullet in mid-flight.
Although the book is graphic, Really Big Coloring Books publisher Wayne Bell says the it's a factual learning tool, a "serious children's book," not idealogical propaganda.
"It's a clean, honest read," he told TPM. "It's not degrading or anything like that."
The executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations disagrees, arguing that it paints Muslims as extremists.
