Watch out, America: Sarah Palin is returning to reality TV with a new show focused on the great outdoors.

The New York Daily News reports that the former Alaskan governor and Republican vice-presidential candidate will host the weekly outdoors program Amazing America, which is slated to make its debut next April on the U.S. cable outlet Sportsman Channel.

"I'm excited to help shine a light on all the great American sportsmen and women in the country who live the outdoors lifestyle," Palin said in a statement. "Sportsman Channel is the leader in their industry and I am thrilled to be partnering with them on this show."

This won't be Palin's first turn at the reality-TV rodeo. Back in 2010, she was the main attraction in the TLC unscripted series Sarah Palin's Alaska. Low ratings prompted TLC to limit the show to a single eight-episode season. Palin is also an occasional contributor to Fox News.

Currently unavailable on Canadian television, the Sportsman Channel is a niche cable channel directed at American viewers interested in hunting, shooting and fishing.

The channel's current lineup of programs includes Big Deer TV with Mike Hanback and Wanted Ted or Alive, helmed by rocker/gun proponent Ted Nugent.

Needless to say, Sportsman Channel chief executive officer Gavin Harvey was over the moon about his channel's newest on-air personality.

"Governor Palin is one of America's most popular leaders, whose powerful love of country and passion for the great outdoors is inspiring to millions and millions of people," Harvey said. "As a sportswoman, humanitarian and patriot who has visited every corner of the USA, there is no one more qualified to host Amazing America than Sarah Palin."

All of which raises the question: What will Palin be doing on the show? According to a Sportsman Channel media release, the program will "explore some of the most original, interesting – and sometimes inspiring – people, places and pastimes connected to America's outdoors lifestyle."

Translation: Palin will roam the country in search of avid hunters, and don't be surprised to see her pick up a gun or two herself. Don't forget she's a card-carrying member of the National Rifle Association.

And she seems okay with killing things. Remember the time she thought it was a good idea to conduct a TV interview at a turkey farm – while standing a few yards away from a man shoving live turkeys into a killing machine?

However the new show evolves, Palin appears to be prepping for her re-entry into the reality-TV spotlight. Just last weekend she was in Monroe, La., presumably in support of her new book Good Tidings and Great Joy: Protecting the Heart of Christmas -- but she was really there to hang out with the good ol' boys of the popular A&E reality series Duck Dynasty.

"Had a blast meeting the Duck Commander gang as well as the great folks who came to the book signing yesterday evening," she wrote Sunday on her Facebook page.

For the record, Duck Commander is the business operated by the hirsute gun-toting members of the Duck Dynasty clan. And as the name suggests, it's in the business of making duck calls. For hunting purposes.
