If David After Dentist grew up and got invasive oral surgery again, would he look like this kid?
Chaddy is the next endearing, doped up fool making the rounds in a post-dental sedation genre burgeoning on YouTube.
Chaddy had his wisdom teeth pulled; his face has swelled up like a balloon and his eyes are full of tears. It looks like his sisters may be keeping him company, one of them filming his ramblings on a Flip Video Camera.
The video is a slow build, with Chaddy fidgety and emotional with his family members. By the sounds of it, the teenager was treated to intravenous sedation.
He demands Panda Express Chinese delivery, but his mom thinks ice cream is a better idea. "You're the Mom, you know what's best," Chaddy says.
A sampling of his stoned wit:
"Look at my tongue. Is it numb?"
"How do you say 'Czechoslovakia' in Russia? They're bad people, huh?"
"Hey Dad, I love you. I don't know how I'm doing. I'm just crying and watching soccer ..."
"If you want you can get me a Smoothie King, but don't spend lots of money because we need to save our money for the Great Depression. Why are you laughing at me?"
Posted last week along with the car ride home and Chaddy coming to with a bowl of ice cream, the videos have gleaned some 50,000 views online, childplay's compared with David After Dentist's 111 million views.
While it likely won't land Chaddy the viral fame it did David, the original anesthesia sensation on YouTube, there is something consistently rewarding about watching young people blather and deliver profundity as they surface from dental sedation.
"Sometimes, you have to go to an altered state of consciousness to find true wisdom," write the folks at Viral Viral video, who suspect Chaddy may have found his third eye.
Maybe it's more about good old family ribbing, with this version slightly less exploitative, since Chaddy is an affable teenager, not a helpless child. And maybe it helps us rally around the heinous experience of dentists' visits in general.
